Boardgames thru' the night!

It was a long long night playing boardgames with the GECS gang at our friends Esther and Triston's house. Thank you once again for inviting us over, yeah! =)

For some of my friends there last night (or should I say this morning!), it was their first time playing boardgames and card games that are non-traditional. And I bet everyone enjoyed thoroughly! We managed to teach them Modern Art, SNORTA and Citadel during the 9 hours of gaming. Can you imagine we just played 3 games in a span of 9 hours?! To be frank, this is normal for a group of 9 people. So that is why we have always advised our customers to consider the number of friends playing when it comes to planning the number of games to rent and deciding on the renting period.
GECS gang, you guys were really sporting and fun! We are looking forward to introducing more fun games to you soon,ya! HUAT AH! =)

Ushering in the Year of the Ox soon!

The new year of 2009 has just begun and everyone must be busy... school has just started for the students and everyone is probably busy preparing for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Keke... a money saving tip. Instead of mahjong and gambling (poker, 21, texas hold'em etc), how about boardgame sessions with your family, relatives and friends? Think about it - food and drinks are oredi free (sponsored by mum and dad!) and when you split the game package among friends, its so affordable! And you get to chit chat and catch up with each other while playing the games. =)

Just drop us a note (rentagameenquiry@yahoo.com.sg) or call/sms (9710 5411) to describe your group size, age group, gathering duration, preference of games (party games or card games or strategy games) etc and we will recommend the most appropriate games for you! Guarantee that you will have a great time!

Facts:
Recommended Number of Players: 2 to 6

Age Group: 8 years old and above

Playing Time: About 30 minutes

Game Category: Cards, Party

Game Grouping in RAG: Group A

RAG's comments:

This is a fantastic party word game for ice-breaker or get a party going! There may be rules by default, but this game allows friends to create their own rules to make the whole process much more enjoyable the way they prefer. The version we are sharing with everyone comprises of not only the words found in the original international version, but also many words that are familiar to Singaporeans. A game that requires a lot of creativity from all players. I simply love this version of Taboo!

Why Rent-A-Game?

Opps! Guess both myself and my partner were totally engrossed in beautifying and beefing up our personal blog with all the games that we have/will be having, such that we have totally forgotten about introducing ourselves and this blog. Pardon us,ya?

So here we go! =)

I am Ryan, and together with my partner, Corrine have decided to share with everyone out there our passion for boardgames.

Being hardcore boardgamers, we used to frequent boardgame cafes in Singapore at least once a week and play many games. However, with the rising numbers of enthusiastic and leisure boardgamers, we often find ourselves :-
  • playing in an environment that is too noisy (till I cannot even hear myself speaking),
  • not being able to play the game(s) I want to play at times (because other groups are playing them),
  • finding the hole in my wallet getting bigger (especially during times like this),
  • encountering some cafe helpers who do not know the rules of some games or teach the wrong rules (leading to waste of time and money),
  • cannot find a parking lot or having to pay rising ERP fees (for those who drive), and
  • cannot book seats in any cafe during high volume during weekends.

Wow, what a list! You probably might have also encountered some, if not, all of the abovementioned situations.

Hence, a few months back, we have decided to purchase our own games to play with friends and family, and all of the above situations have since never been a concern! Now, we want to share our joy and bring our joy to all of you out there, by renting our games out.

By renting a game from us, you will enjoy:-

  • no more worries about fully-booked venues to play boardgames,
  • no more disappointment when you cannot play the games (provided they are available in the first place) you want to play,
  • no more headaches about travelling (be it parking lots for drivers, or undesirable weather conditions) as we will deliver the games to you,
  • no more noisy environment to play in as you choose where you want to play your games ANYWHERE,
  • no more incident of wrong rules taught to you,
  • no more stress about having to quickly set up games and can only play once or twice due to time constraint in cafes (now you play the games through the whole night if you want!), and
  • no more exponential growth of the hole in you pocket as low rental price shared with all your friends simply makes playing games no longer an expensive hobby!

So, if you want to enjoy the 7 no mores above and keen to find out more on how to rent game(s) from us for small simple gatherings, functions, celebrations or even educational purposes, please do not hesitate to contact us to enquire more NOW,ya! =)

Cash Flow 101

Facts:
Recommended Number of Players: 2 to 6
Age Group: 10 years old and above
Playing Time: About 180 minutes
Game Category: Finance
Game Grouping in RAG: Group C
RAG's comments:
This is one of my favourite games of all time! Everytime I start to play this game,I just feel so challenged because I can put my finance management skills to test again, by role-playing different professions. Of course, the most challenging is DOCTOR!!! Basically, the board has two tracks: A "Rat Race" small circle where you only roll one die to advance, and a "Fast Track" where you roll two dice to advance. In the Rat Race you get paid for passing your Paycheck space, and then draw from one of four decks of cards depending on which space you've landed.Your main problem here is a shortage of cash. In the Fast Track your main problem is an excess of cash and finding investments to sink it into before you lose it to lawsuits, divorce or tax audits.
To me, during this tough period, this game will really help one identify 'fatal' error in the way they have been managing their finance and investments. You can then try to put what you have learnt or realised in this game to test with real money in your wallet!Be the last survivor and win the races on board and in reality! =)

Animals-lovers must try this interesting game of ensuring all the animals in your zoo are kept in the right enclosures. For business-minded people, this game allows you to learn how to manage your zoo well. For example, you must decide when you need to activate the coins you have on hand such that you can ensure that the animals are happily living in your zoo, yet you are able to score the highest points at the end of the game!

A simple game which serves a good ice-breaker for a group of friends coming together for the first time to play boardgame or just got to know each other.

Since young, I often have dreamt of myself looking high and low for 'treasures' and participated in treasure hunts in school and gatherings, and enjoyed the anxiety of searching and thrill of holding the 'treasures' in my hands! This game just rekindles the old memories and the long-lost treasure-hunting thrill!!! Have you ever dreamt of yourself leading an expedition to search for some hidden treasures? You get to make your dream come true in this game! You will be challenged to overcome all the obstacles such as non-existence of path for your expedition team to continue your journey, volcanoes erupting at the most unexpected time disrupting your plan and more.

This is a game about building your postal service empire, linking up states and provinces. You can engage the service of each of the four officers, who have their own unique capabilities to assist you in establishing your empire. You have to engage their expertise at the right time and speed is very crucial in this game, as your competitors will be linking up their services using routes you would never thought of. Short and simple enough for friends who prefer games that are easy-on-my-mind. =)

RAG's comments:
Many boardgamers who have tried this game before will agree with me that this is an all-time HAPPY game! In this game, everyone gets to select an animal role and make the sound of it. My advice is to make a very difficult sound such that your friends will find it hard to imitate the sound you tag it to your animal role later on in the game! =P Everyone will simply look SILLY and FUNNY, and that is the whole fun of it! Just let the kiddish side of you show and enjoy yourself thoroughly in this short and simple game! =)
